PIDCI Diwa ng Kalayaan 2015
Diwa Ng Kalayaan 2015 Coronation Night
An eighteen year old stunner from Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey was crowned Diwa Ng Kalayaan 2015 last April 11, 2015 at the Grand Ballroom of the Double Tree by Hilton, Newark, New Jersey. Katherine Campbell, 2013 National American Miss New Jersey Teen winner, added another crown to her collection.
The 5′4 beauty who definitely has a million dollar smile also won the Most Photogenic award. “I am ecstatic just to be here! I promise to make the most of this new experience. I am honored to be able to represent the Philippines and my fellow Fil-Americans. The title of Diwa ng Kalayaan is a great way for me to inspire other people who were born and raised in America but have ties to the Philippines. As I learn more about the Philippines throughout my year I will be able to share my experience and knowledge with other Filipino Americans. Hopefully my experience will inspire them to learn more about their heritage. As for the youth back in the Philippines, I hope to influence on them through volunteering in their hometowns and sharing stories of what my life is like in America.“. She enthused after being crowned by outgoing queen Mikaela Alexa Rada assisted by Consul General Mario Lopez De Leon Jr. and Mrs. Kalayaan 2014 Joji Rafael. Katherine will be joining the winner of Mrs. Kalayaan 2015 (to be crowned on April 25, 2015) at the Philippine Independence Day Parade in NYC on June 7, 2015.
Rianne Avendula-Philips of New York, New York was crowned Miss Filipino-American and romped off with the Miss Congeniality and Miss Charity special awards.

The Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) is the organizer of the biggest Philippine Independence Day Parade outside of the Philippines. The 25th Annual Parade will be on June 7, 2015 on Madison Avenue between 38th and 23rd street which will include a Street Fair and a Cultural Festival.
Many fans here are hoping there would be a repeat of 2013’s parade wherein three of the Philippines’ biggest networks were the event’s media partners. Kapatid, Kapuso and Kapamilya die hards are hoping to see their favorite stars.
As for beauty pageant aficionados, Megan Young’s participation last year was a big event and this year, everyone hopes to see Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental Christi Lynn Landrito McGarry during the parade which can be a homecoming of sorts for the east coast based beauty queen. Hopefully, her co-Bb winners can join her.
