Message from PIDCI President
Allow me to welcome you all to the website of the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI). PIDCI is the organization that plans, organizes, manages, produces and executes all the things that pertains to the annual celebration of the Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City. The parade itself is usually on the first Sunday of June along the stretch of Madison Avenue and immediately followed by a street fair and cultural festival that features special guests (celebrities) from the Philippines and local Filipino talents.
The parade, however, is but one of the activities brought out by PIDCI. In the months prior to the first Sunday of June, we have various commemorative events that will show case the Filipino spirit. We start with the GRAND MARSHAL GALA where they are presented to the Filipino community in front of their family and friends; the MRS KALAYAAN PAGEANT (for the older Filipina/Filipina-American) follows and then the DIWA NG KALAYAAN (for the young Filipina/Filipina-American). To cap the festivities, we have the INDEPENDENCE BALL which is usually held after the parade.
We hope that you will be involved in this 118th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence. Come and join us in the commemorative events; come and join us in the parade; and come and join us in the Independence Ball.
Mabuhay Ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay Ang Kalayaan!
Prospero A. Lim, MD
